Update: Wedding Planning

This isn’t one of my typical blog posts but considering it’s a blog I can technically write about anything on here, right? I thought I would update you on all things wedding planning and how excited I am for my BIG day! It only happens once so might as well jot about it!

First of all, and hopefully I don’t jinx myself, but wedding planning has been so much fun! I don’t know why people say wedding planning is stressful. Thankfully I have not found it a stressful experience, but maybe it’s because I started planning the week after I got engaged (no procrastination queen here). Since COVID delayed so many weddings, I found the amount of vendors and venues to be more unavailable even a year out but that was something out of my control and I had to work around that.

Also can I take a moment to say how fun venue shopping is?! I didn’t realize there was so many beautiful and unique venues within a 50 mile radius. Once we realized that 90% of all venues we looked at were already booked up for every Saturday and Sunday for the entire year out, we knew we had to be flexible with what day we were going to get married- a weekday it is. After snagging one of the last Fridays at our venue, we felt a sigh of relief having our date engraved on the calendar. We will get wed a year out from when Jeff proposed. I really didn’t want to have a longer engagement of more than a year because I knew the anticipation would slowly kill me inside!

After choosing the venue, I made a list of all the vendors we needed to hire. I am so thankful to have a fiancé who is wanting to help out in the planning process because he called around to a few places to inquire their availability and pricing too. Within two weeks, we lined up all our vendors. We had to book fast because as you could imagine there are dozens of other brides out there looking at the same vendors too.

Oh, and cake tasting- that is easily the best part! In addition to a small tiered cake, we decided to have cupcakes. I mean who doesn’t love cupcakes? During the cake tasting, I am pretty sure Jeff ate all 4 of his cupcakes before I finished my 2nd one. Needless to say, they were delicious!

There has been a little lull in the wedding planning since booking the vendors. I strangely love keeping busy with planning things, so now I am twiddling my thumbs and resisting the urge to online shop for white dresses for every bridal occasion (oh, the temptation)!

I do have a few DIY wedding projects to complete before the big day. I strolled through Hobby Lobby and my mind was going wild with all the craft inspo! I ended up buying some wooden planks to make a few wedding signs.

I have my dress fitting coming up next week! Strangely, the one thing that has caused me the most stress has revolved around finding a dress. It must be because I am so indecisive and could not make up my mind on what dress I wanted to purchase. They were all just so beautiful. The FOMO also didn’t help, or rather the fear of what other dress might be out there was lurking in my mind. After a lot of going back and forth (and revisiting the same stores twice) I finally said yes to the dress after trying on about 50 different ones! Now the question is if I want a veil…

We are in the 2 month countdown down now and I am so excited for all that is leading up to our big special day! I have my bachelorette party with some of my favorite girlfriends, DIY projects to complete, and finalizing the guest count. I am cherishing all the excitement that comes with getting married and looking forward to sharing photos with you all!

XO,
Kayla
